At a Jan. 23 meeting of Brattleboro’s Community Homelessness Strategy Team (CHST), Cristina Shay-Onye, a Brattleboro resident, urged the town to develop a plan of action.
Cristina Shay-Onye, a Brattleboro Representative Town Meeting member and member of the RTM Finance Committee, is addressing the crisis on the streets of Brattleboro.
Cristina Shay-Onye, District 8, made the motion to disapprove the ordinance, arguing that if enacted the ordinance would violate Constitutional rights and expose the town to expensive lawsuits.
“I call them my Wood Angels, and I’m so grateful to them,” she told The Commons. “The temperature in the house was 60 degrees,” she said. “I had the baby bundled up, but it just wasn’t warm enough in the house for him.”
